Kanchan View, Darjeeling
North-facing slopes above Kurseong where the mist does half the withering for us. Muscatel country.
Single-estate · Est. Siliguri 1978
PEKOE buys whole invoices from three family gardens in Darjeeling, Assam and the Nilgiris — then airlifts, tins and ships them before the aroma has anywhere to go.
Three valleys, one label
Every tin carries one garden, one pluck, one week. Meet the three families whose entire invoices we buy before the leaves are even fired.
North-facing slopes above Kurseong where the mist does half the withering for us. Muscatel country.
Low, hot and loud with malt. The Brahmaputra’s humidity gives our Assams their famous swagger.
Winter frost stresses the bushes into sweetness. Our January pickings taste like the Nilgiris smell.
The collection
Whole-leaf invoices, numbered by pluck week. Every price below is for a resealable 50 g tin — roughly 25 honest cups.
Signature system 01
Pick a tin. We set the water, the clock and the leaf dose. Press start and watch the cup deepen to exactly the colour it should be when you pour.
Signature system 02
Five axes, one honest shape. Switch between tins and watch the profile morph — malt swings east, florals swing north.
White blossom, green almond and that thin mountain-air brightness only a March pluck carries.
Leaf to tin
Two leaves and a bud, before 9 am, while the dew still slows oxidation. Nothing mechanical ever touches the bush.
Leaf loses a third of its water on mesh troughs. The garden decides the hours; we just keep the fans honest.
Old Britannia rollers bruise the leaf just enough to wake the juices. Twenty-two minutes, never more.
Spread thin on cool slabs. The leaf turns from grass to bronze — the tea-maker smells, not times, the finish.
Four minutes at 115°C locks the character. This is the moment we buy — our agent stands at the dryer mouth.
Nitrogen-flushed tins, sealed at the estate, on the Bagdogra or Dibrugarh flight the same week. No warehouse. Ever.
“A tea garden is not a farm. It is a kitchen the size of a valley, and the monsoon is head chef.”Dorje Bhutia — Estate manager, Kanchan View

From the gardens
Steeped & said
“I timed the Rani Doyang with their Steep Lab and finally understood what ‘malty’ meant. My office chai wallah has been put on notice.”
“The subscription quiz nailed it — Moonlight White for my late evenings, chai for Sunday mornings. It genuinely feels curated, not shipped.”
“Ordered on WhatsApp at 9 pm, tin numbered DJ-2026-14 at my Gurugram door in two days. The muscatel smelt like the tin was still in Kurseong.”
The tasting room
Twelve teas on the bench daily, brewed on the Steep Lab clocks. Walk-ins welcome; gongfu flights by appointment.
